Thursday Perp Walk, a regular feature on MyBrooklynReport.com, will introduce you to the social predators who preyed on unsuspecting home buyers, home owners and home lenders.  Perpetrating mortgage fraud in real estate usually begins with just two people with quite a bit of cooperation from individuals behind the scenes.

A special thanks to Mortgage Fraud Blog and Rachel Dollar for compiling this information for the public.

Read and share this article recounting real life cases and understand how little it takes to defraud you or someone you know when it involves a house.  Pay special attention to the comments left at the links below, as many of them are by the actual victims of these frauds.

It’s horrible that people prey on unsuspecting people like this.

I will be visiting this site more often. You have a lot of good information here! Thanks for providing all this knowledgeable advice for homeowners and would be homebuyers, as myself.

In Brooklyn real estate, this kind of criminal behavior is cyclical.

When you have a rising real estate market as we had from 1998 to 2007, no one is minding the store. And many politicians obtain campaign donations from the very individuals who engineer these plots.

However, it’s encouraged when there is no oversight. Our mortgage and deed closing process in NYC needs overhauling desperately to ensure the integrity of the parties in a transaction involving people looking to live and stay in their homes.
